Hi! I am Mikayla and I am currently a speech language pathologist for a local school district that allows me on a daily basis to provide speech therapy to sweet kiddos ranging from the age of 3 to 11 years old to address anything related to their communication needs. Through this profession I have been able to use my talents to share Christ’s love and empower the next generation. This has been something close to my heart since going on a mission trip in high school with my church to the Dominican Republic. I gained a renewed perspective on how God’s love can transcend borders and languages. Being pushed mentally, physically and spiritually outside of my comfort zone has allowed me to see the greatness of the God we serve.

I am so excited about the opportunity to go to Colombia this summer. I will be going for a week to help facilitate a summer camp to interact with children and their families to foster conversations about their culture and faith, all while getting to introduce them to Christ.  My team and I will be serving alongside a local pastor and director of El Pacto en ACCION. This ministry serves the largest region in Bogotá with almost a million people living in substandard housing. We will be partnering to support the great efforts of this ministry to put on a summer camp for the children and young people of the region. I feel blessed to be a part of the work already happening in Colombia and tie together my many passions in this trip including working with children, exploring a new culture and further growing my Spanish proficiency.

I need to raise about $1,780 for this trip and would be grateful if you would consider contributing toward these trip costs. Thank you in advance for your support, whether in prayer or financially. I am grateful for your willingness to “go” with me and allow me to be with the children, young people and families of Bogotá.
