The Southern Region of Malawi is one of the poorest regions in the world, with 70% living on less than 3 dollars per day. The current cost of a Chichewa Bible is $18.00. We have met many pastors that only have one Bible and may be working with 20 to 100 people in their discipleship groups and church. Women make up about 70% of believers yet many groups have few or no Bibles.
